Prosthodontics is the dental speciality pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function. Further the comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions are taken carte of in associated with the missing or deficient teeth. Further the missing teeth is formed and placed in cognigence of the oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.

It includes the speciality in art of implanting, aesthetics and reconstructive dentistry. Restoration of oral function is done through prostheses and restorations (i.e., making of complete denture, crown and implanting which further leads to retaine and also supports restorations). Using state-of-the-art procedures, the prosthodontist is often viewed as the architect of a restorative dental treatment plan.
