Oral Pathology and Dental Anatomy

This branch of dentistry which has the versatility of Dental Anatomy, Histology, Embryology & Pathology has a wide capabitlity of concern to treat to cure the patients. Clinical dentistry is largely based on the foundation of study of Dental Anatomy and Histology. The practice of oral pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations. It occupies a unique position in the health care community for the dental as well as medical profession. A thorough knowledge obtained from this subject will help to correlate human biology with signs and symptoms of human disease. This will help to understand oral disease so that it can be properly diagnosed and adequately treated. The undergraduate students are trained to acquire the skills in:

• Identification and carving of permanent teeth


• The age estimation using plaster casts of different age groups


• Microscopic identifications of oral tissues as well as common oral lesions


• Study of teeth anomalies through specimens and plaster casts
